Our Full Story
Ducklings Childcare was founded in 2000 in England by Debbie Walters. While on vacation Debbie fell in love with North Carolina, and Waxhaw specifically, and founded Ducklings Childcare with her daughter Emma inside the heart of Waxhaw. Now the rest is history, and we are so thankful to be a part of this wonderful town and community!
Our mission statement is 'Laying foundations to a solid education'.
We offer a safe, loving, nurturing environment where children can learn, question and explore. We have small classrooms, as opposed to one large room for all children, which allows us the opportunity to be more one on one with your child to support their learning!
Ducklings Preschool is a long-established day childcare providing education and care to children from birth, up to the age of 5 years old. We operate Monday to Friday, from 6:30 am until 6 pm.

We have gained an excellent reputation, over the years, as a trusted provider, offering flexible services to match the individual needs of our families. Ducklings offers far more than just child care, we offer the first introduction to a lifetime of learning, a journey that builds a child's passion for learning. We provide children learning environments; promoting opportunities to discover, explore and grow to their fullest potential.
As a partner, you’ll have numerous opportunities to communicate with us regarding your child’s progress; and we're confident that our setting and staff encourage a highly productive partnership between teachers and parents.
We are extremely proud to announce that Ducklings Child Care in Waxhaw has been awarded FIVE STARS!
We were awarded the five star child care license from the State of North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services - Division of Child Development and early education!

Ducklings Childcare is deeply committed to being an integral part of the local community, actively engaging with individuals, families and local organisations to create a nurturing and inclusive environment. Through participation in community events, walking day drips out to local Waxhaw businesses and inviting special guests to visit, we strive to build strong relationships and contribute positively to the growth and well-being of our neighbourhood. For example, we have proudly welcomed the Waxhaw Police Department and the Waxhaw Fire Department in to talk and educate the children!
